Cathedral, Castle, Guy Fawkes, UGA, and Friends. Saturday, November 5

Today's headline over here:  the idiots are winning in this age of anxiety.  It refers to not only Brexit but also the US elections.  I am so nervous about Tuesday's upcoming results.  My cruise home may be a depressing one.

I think Brexit may now be a thing of therapist as the British Supreme Court has ruled that Parliament must decide whether or not to trigger Article 50.  Maybe WE need a Parliament to safeguard our election!

On a lighter note, I colored my hair last night using a product similar to what I've used before --same brand and color number, but it turned out MUCH darker?  Walking past shoppe windows gives me a start every time I see my reflection!  Who is this person?

Later.....

Guy Fawkes Day, or Bonfire Night, is a celebration of anti-establishment.  It is based on the Gunpowder Plot which was an attempt to blow up the House of Lords in 1605 to restore a Catholic head of state.  People wear the Guy Fawkes mask, very much like the one from V for Vendetta and Anonymous.

Going back to the Cathedral to find more interesting things and for Ray's tower tour.  Spent the morning at the cathedral. Met a funny verger who was setting up chairs and we enjoyed joking around with him.  Volunteers here take such pride in their work.  I saw a lady spent almost an hour arranging and rearranging am gorgeous bunch of poppies and red carnations.  Retook some photos and found some new things.  Kept looking for the winking Dean carving and finally asked and it was on the OUTSIDE of the North Rose window.  Found the trap door in the lantern.  Never did find the Devil overlooking Lincoln.

I wish so much that I could live here.  I would cvolunteer at Lincoln Cathedral just so I could spend all day walking around it.

Then we did the movie at the Castle and saw the Magna Carta and the Prison Chapel.  By this time the wind was so strong and, bitterly cold that they warned people taking the wall walk about being blown off!  I skipped this, needless to say.

Tonight we have dinner with Margaret and Colin then they take us to their house tomorrow for 3 nights.
