Coughing & Sneezing. Wednesday, Thursday October 26 & 27

That's about it folks...nothing to see here except coughing and sneezing.  Stormy day here on Lewis with heavy rains and te ridiculous winds, so no going out for me.  But the antibiotic is working-- I already feel much better than yesterday, thank goodness.

OH, and by the way, I think I may set a record here.  Because of the time of year--after tourist season--and because of the yucky weather, but mainly because I finally succumbed to Ray's cold and it turned into bronchitis, I think this will be the first week in a VERY long time that I have gone a whole week without eating out.  Every meal since last Saturday morning when we ate breakfast at Morrison's cafe in For William until we get on the ferry this next Saturday morning to go to the Isle of Skye was and will be prepared at home by ourselves--lots of salmon and veggies, veggie omelets, and pizza.  And I'm not even complaining at all--it's been delicious!

I feel very sorry for the little sheep I see standing on the hill opposite our corporate in the wind and rain.  I told this to Ray and he said that the rain just drips right off their wool and they stay dry, but I worry about their little faces.  I've seen them getting their heads under outcropping a of rocks at times, so they must not like the rain in their face.  I think farmers should built them umbrella-like structures so that they can retreat in the storms.

They have very interesting bus stop concrete structures for children here.  Imagine an X-shaped concrete structure on the ground about 5 feet tall with a circular flat concrete cover over it.  Thought it was strange when I first saw one, but then I figured out that it was to protect them from the winds. If the wind is coming from the south, the children can move to the empty space on the north side.  Ingenious!

Two new British language quirks--over here, the plural of stadium is not stadiums, it's stadia.  And we call the decade between 1990-1999 the nineties.  I don't even know if we have a term for the decade between 2000-2009, but the Brits call it the Naughtiest!  I guess because 0 is naught?
