THAT was interesting!

Well, our levels of cabin fever/stir craziness outweighed snow-covered roads that have yet to be plowed, so once Ray finished plowing the driveway, we went to Blue Ridge Pizza then to Ingles.  Quite a ride, slippery in places, but never dangerous as we went VERY slowly.

Here are photos from last evening and today.  Sunset:

This is the MAIN road we live just off of:

And then the other main road to Hwy 64:

Once you're on the highway, you're fine.  Seeing piles of snow as tall as I am in parking lots that have been sort of plowed was funny.

Back home now and we'll see what tonight's below freezing temps bring for morning travel.  No sign of snowplows on main roads yet.  Have they forgotten about us?

Narnia

I went for a walk this morning in our 18 inches of snow.  Ray has tunneled a little path down to the end of the driveway, but then I decided I wanted to go up to the top of the hill to see the main road, Hebron.  Everything is so absolutely beautiful and still and amazingly just like walking into Narnia--even with our lamp-post!

So many red cardinal families visiting now:

Boomer came for a visit and took full advantage of the path!

This is the MAIN road--curvy and mountainous steep drop offs--to our house.  Road off to right is into our subdivision:

This is the road that connects Hebron to our Willow Creek Road. It is a gravel road and is so thick in snow!

The county isn't plowing until late tonight at the earliest and our subdivision  snow-plower won't come until tomorrow or Monday, so we will see when we next are able to get out.

Catch-ups and Snow Storm

First of all, some pics I found on Ray's camera from our trip to John O'Groats and the Cairngorms in Scotland on our last trip:

One end of Great Britain.  Arrived around 4 and 20 minutes later, it was dark:

Snow in the Cairngorms:

Snow from the other day:

And now REAL snow from first thing this morning.  A beautiful, light and fluffy snow.  Love it!!  We probably have about 12 inches at this point:

One of our cardinals that is very glad that Ray refilled the birdfeeders this morning:

From the Gazebo, the lake:

A mix of snow and sleet is falling now.  We're supposed to get another 3-5 inches of snow today and another 1-3 inches tonight.  :-)

Christmas time

At times, Christmas was very busy and at other times, very relaxing.  All fun though.

Visited with Laura, Andy, Lincoln, and Gus right before Christmas in Virginia.  Then a quiet Christmas at home.  Then Ray's Disneyworld Marathon and a few relaxing days in Hilton Head.  Then visiting with Katie, Russ, and Otis in Decatur.
