Yet another very relaxing day. Went to talk by travel guide, Tom, on our ports of call. Have seen MANY blue whales today. All seem to be on the starboard side. Captain informed us of the first one and said he jumped out of the water twice, so I grabbed my camera and ran to the starboard side. Didn’t see him jump but he did arch his back in the water several times and spout over and over again.
I swear I think the food has sedatives in it. I took another nap today! I just can’t fight the gentle rolling motion of the ship. Terrible show in the lounge tonight—the Unexpected Boys from the other night did Broadway hits, supposedly. I think another act must’ve dropped out and they had to fill in for they didn’t know the words to several of the songs and the pianist got totally lost at one point and one of the guys had to go over and help him find his place again. And the songs they chose—no guys should ever do the Barbra Streisand song “No One’s Gonna Harm You.” Especially when he sings it to another guy. Barbra wrote that protective, mothering song for her own son. It’s a beautiful song, but not in this performance. And the talent just wasn’t there. Honestly, it was worse than amateur night in high school. Ray and I felt like playing Simon Cowell. Total disaster.
Magnificent sunset again with several more blue whales arching and spouting for us. We are over halfway to Lisbon now. Three more days without setting foot on land. And the seas still the calmest ever. Yay!
