Nothing better than bagpipes done well. October 12

October 12.   Laura's Birthday!  Happy Birthday, Laurie!

Last night, both of us felt like we were getting sick, but I think it is still residual jet lag because this morning, we were fine.  Did some shopping at Morrison's then had my very favorite breakfast over here at the Morrison's Cafe--scrambled eggs on buttered toast.  Then we went back to the hotel for naps and woke up for a drive out to the Nevis Range tram and then over to see Ben Nevis, its top still in fog, so Ray decided to forego his planned climb for now.

Went back to the hotel to leave the car then walked into town where we had "pointy hats"= Scottish for ice cream cones--Ray had triple chocolate chip and I had cookies and cream--at the Sweet Shoppe.  We contributed to the quite abundant tips for an amazing young man of about 12 playing the bagpipes on the street and doing a great job of it.  We sat to listen for a while then walked down to the water to see the play of sun on it and the surrounding hills.  Saw the remains of the Old Fort of Fort William then went back to the room for a cup of tea.

Brewer's Fayre again for dinner then turning in early for we leave early in the morning for our drive to Oban to catch the ferry to Mull then drive to see some sites and have lunch then drive cross Mull to Ffionphort for the ferry to the Sacred Isle of Iona.
