Off we go yet again! May 6

It’s been an interesting last couple of days in regards to the ship. We were told we would be able to board around 12:30, but then the ship arrived in dock late and let the hotels know not to send shuttles until 1:30. So we took the 1:30 then had to stand in line for almost 2 hours to check in. Luckily, once we were in the terminal, we were able to get right into the cabin.

Our cabin is very nice, and the obstructed view we thought we would have seems to be just a lifeboat below the level of sight, so we really have a huge window to look out. Over dinner, we heard that the final testing on the ship had not been done, so instead of leaving at 5 last evening, the departure would be delayed until 8 am this morning! So we are 15 hours behind schedule. But the captain assures us that the delay won’t impact our arrival at our first stop.

Passing by Grand Bahama Island as I type—the last land we will see for 6 days. The service and food on this cruise line is exceptional. Much better than on other lines we’ve sailed. Last night we both had the prime rib. For dessert I had carrot cake and Ray had a delicious flourless chocolately cake. But the highlight was the chilled pina colada soup that you drink through a straw from a glass! It had pineapple dots at the bottom of the glass.

The ship is gorgeous. Lots of complaints from other cruisers about no cold water, no hot water, carpet still being installed, leaks at their doors, all the good shore excursions already taken. But we are happy with no complaints and no problems.

Dinner tonight at our regular table for two in the Da Vinci room, just under the painting of a lovely lady who just may be Mary Magdalene, considering her dress and what she is holding. How very appropriate. : )

My dinner was the best salmon I have ever eaten along with the best Key Lime pie ever. We’re going to the show tonight—a lady singer named Eve Sherratt. Then maybe a quick peek outside to see if you can see the stars. Very relaxing day today including 2 naps!!
