Wow--another day of not leaving the apartment for me! Spent today organizing things to ship home and making plans for days to come. The wind is REALLY blowing here. Woke me up at 4 and I couldn't get back to sleep. It is almost 6pm and it is still going wild out there. Huge gusts of wind.
Ray brought home "take away" as they say over here--KFC again. Love that popcorn chicken. Plan to watch some TV and read. Maybe tomorrow I will actually get up and do something outside. We'll see. : )
***another update--strange as it may seem: Okay, so we started boxing up all the souvenirs--mostly books--that we have bought on this trip, and in the process came up with quite a bit of stuff, weight-wise. So we figured it up and the rate to ship it home was going to be about $1000!!!!. We couldn't believe it. (Shipping companies make a fortune off travelers. Every time we go to check our mailbox at Mailboxes, Etc., there are huge boxes everywhere filled with stuff that students and travelers are shipping home.)
Anyway, so the wheels in Ray's brain started turning and before you know it, he found a super cheap ticket to fly home WITH all the souvenirs--because of his Medallion status with Delta, HE can carry MORE and HEAVIER luggage free of charge--and now he is flying home tomorrow and checking on the house and flying back weight-free, getting here on Tuesday. This will also give him enough miles to have Medallion status for another year, so it will pay in the long run.
I suppose THIS is when all the ghosts in Edinburgh will converge on me! I HAVE been asking for it. Anyway, I have lots of things to get done while he is gone--stuff he wouldn't want to do, like walking a Chartres-type labyrinth here in Edinburgh and visiting the Magdalen Chapel. AND for the rest of the trip, we will travel light. : )
