San Francisco
After a long day of travel, we arrived at our hotel, Le Meridien, and our beautiful room on the 23rd floor with an amazing view. The Transamerica Pyramid is close on our left, the spires of Sts. Peter & Paul Cathedral are towards the Golden Gate, Coit Tower sits right in front of us, and the Bay Bridge is to the right. I could sit at this desk for the rest of my life and watch this view.
The weather these past 2 days have been the best I have ever experienced in this city. Cool temps, sunny, no fog, and a breeze. Aaahhhh Couldn't be much better.
We picked up Ray's number for the Bay to Breakers race he is doing with Christy. Then we met up with Christy, Steve, & Meredith and went to the Disney Family Museum on the former Presidio property. It was a treat just to be on the once restrictted naval property. The view of the Golden Gate Bridge out the back of the museum was stunning. The museum itself was fantastic. All about Walt Disney and his legacy. I especially loved that he loved collecting miniatures--they had many of his own on display. Stories of his life were so interesting. He built a playhouse for his daughters for Christmas and had it come from Santa. the palyhouse had leaded glass, running water, and a telephone to the main house on which Santa actually called them to ask if they liked the house.
The miniature display of Disneyland park was incredible. We had such a good time. Then we went to Fort Point, located under the Golden Gate Bridge. Such gret views from here. Meredith had fun exploring all the rooms in the fort. So breezy & freezing, especially since I left my jacket in the car!
Ray & I ate dinner at Pomodoro's--a delicious little pizza place near the hotel.
This morning, Ray & Christy ran/walked the Bay to Breakers in their Donald & Daisy Duck outfits. So cute. Then we took Bart out to San Leandro & met up with Steve & Meredith to see their new house. Steve has done some amazing stone work in their backyard. The garden is going to be beautiful when done.
We had lunch at Mimi's Cafe then went back to the house where I had fun reading to Meredith and playing with her. She's such a beautiful, sweet, and precious little girl.
So far, we've had a wonderful time on this trip. Sitting here watching sunset over the bay. What could be better!
