Rain, rain go away.....

This has definitely been the rainiest summer in history here in the North Carolina mountains.  We now have a flood warning out until 7pm Thursday!  That's 4 1/2 days from now.  The rains begin and then it takes several days for the water from on top of the mountains to flow down and for all the rain filling the French Broad River upstream to reach us here in Henderson County.  AND THE WATER IS ALREADY SEVEN FEET ABOVE THE ROAD just down the road from us!  SEVEN FEET!  That road has been closed for days with more closures threatening.

Really sad is the sight of farmer's cornfields very near us TOTALLY under water up to the tops of the high stalks.  By tomorrow, we probably won't even be able to see the corn at all.  One really cool thing was the two wild turkeys that have visited our front lawn recently.

Ray did great at the Peachtree Road Race with a time of 57:57, and this less than 4 weeks after an emergency appendectomy.  Very happy for this.  Will post photo when we get it.

The TOPS of the tallest cornstalks peeking out.  The rest of the cornfield is totally underwater.
