Sing along with me now: "Tomorrow, tomorrow...." August 23, 2011

That song actually IS stuck in my head. We are so excited to be coming home. We hoped to do the Victorian-style Leas Lift today, which is a 125 year old funicular down to the beach, but it has been raining all day. We had lots of other ideas, too—Canterbury Cathedral again, Ripple Windmill, Seven Sisters Cliffs to look for fossils, or the Cliffs of Dover with the South Foreland Lighthouse. Instead we had breakfast from McDonalds, lunch at Skuba Bar across the street, and dinner from Burger King—Ray making the breakfast and dinner runs in the pouring rain. Lunch was done during a tiny break in the showers and it was very nice to sit on the patio in the cool yet tropical atmosphere. Sitting now in our lovely bay windows looking out on the rain and hoping it stops by morning so we don’t have to haul our luggage from the taxi to the ship in the rain. We’ve done it many times, though, and if necessary can do it again.

Pictures from top: Victorian Lift--for some reason my blog won't let me post this one particular picture in any way except sideways!; our hotel in 1920; from this picture, you can see why our GPS was confused—we were on the lower road looking for it when it is above on the cliff.
