At home on Skye again. Saturday, October 29

Very happy to be going to Skye again.  Ferry took us over in the rain and we were able to check-in right away.  Room 29 which is such a lovely room with a large bathroom and looks out on a tower.  Love this hotel.  Went to lunch at Aros again then to dinner downstairs in The View restaurant.  I had cured salmon and haddock, Ray had soup and Ribeye steak.  Very nice waiter.  Fantastic view.  Have no idea what we are doing tomorrow.  Just being.  And I can't imagine a better place to just be.

A few things I learned about Skye:

The fairies here taught that women were superior to men.

The Old Man of Storr used to have a head and a wife.  But his head and she fell over in a storm.

The cliff at Kilt Rock kills people regularly.

Portree= Port an Righ= Port of the King because of King James V visit here in 1540.

The Quiraing is cluster of pinnacles and peaks created by a glacier.

Bonnie Prince Charlie took refuge with the MacKinnons in Broadford after his 1746 defeat at Culloden.  He left them with his secret recipe for what is now called Drambuie.
