Grand Opening of the National Museum of Scotland July 29, 2011
Today was spent packing up until the afternoon when we walked down to the National Museum to the grand opening of their new sections. They’ve done a beautiful job of expanding their collection in a venue that reminded me very much of the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow. We only had about 45 minutes to walk around before they closed, but it was a good visit.
Pictures from top: two photos of the inside of the new wing of the museum; beautiful fine muslim dress from 1810 embroidered with heavy white cotton thread; Madarin or one hundred faces fan from mid-19th century; Napoleon Bonaparte’s sugar tongs from 1810.
