I think we may have finally mastered the art of relaxing on trips! Anyone who knows us will find this shocking, but except for a short walk on the waterfront and down to see the Dog Stone, Dunollie Lighthouse, and Dunollie Castle, then out to eat at Oban Steakhouse, I didn't leave the apartment all day!
Dunollie Castle's site cliff top site has had a fort on it since the 6th c., but this castle was built in 1247. The huge Dog Stone is where Fingal the giant chained his dog, Bran. In the wind you can still hear the dog's ghostly howls, and, indeed, as we walked away in this afternoon's very windy weather, I heard a ghostly whistle. Several war memorials here from the wars and from sailors lost at sea.
Oban Steakhouse was just a short walk away from the apartment. I believe we ate here on one of our past visits. Burgers this time and watching the cute little train follow its tracks around the ceiling. Raining again which makes for peaceful sleep.

Dog Stone--supposedly Fingal the Giant chained his dog, Bran, to this big rock and by circling it, the dog wore grooves at the bottom. Supposedly you can still hear the dog's ghostly howls at times:
Dunollie Castle from the 6th c. AD. Point near here where cattle were ferried from Mull to Kerrera then swam ashore to be sold in markets in Crieff, Falkirk, and Stirling:
Continuing in my tendency to see faces and shapes in pavements and other mundane things, here is a ghost for Halloween:
our apartment building is the brown one down about 3 buildings:
