Happy 4th of July to everyone in the States! (And sorry for all the mess we rebels caused to those of you here in our original mother country.)
Well, it's move-in day! We finally get to move into our little apartment in the Holyrood area of Edinburgh. Next to the Queen. She was just here the other day, as I understand it. Sorry we missed having tea with her.
Anyway, I must say it is VERY nice to have a bit more room than we've had for the last THREE MONTHS!! During all that time, the most we had was a bedroom and bath. And sometimes very tiny ones at that! Now we even have a kitchen!! Such luxury. We moved our stuff in and bought some groceries and now Ray has gone to return the rental car in Glasgow and take the train back. His own adventure for the day.
Our apartment has a cute little balcony that I plan to sit out on often. Still no air conditioning, but with the break in the heat, it's fine with a fan going.
I will try to post pictures but if they don't go through, you can see our place at:
This is also the place we will have for the month of September. Grocery shopping was a real treat, but I still have trouble with it--I guess I am so accustomed to just picking up the brands I know. Now I have to read labels and that slows me down. But it's fun to discover new kinds of things.
I plan to stay here this evening and just enjoy doing nothing, absolutely nothing. Not even going to dinner. A TV dinner will do just fine. I have TV, movies, books, and bed that isn't going anywhere for 12 days until I pack to go to Atlanta. And I have a lovely balcony, looking out on the large trees in Holyrood, that promises to be my special place while we are here.
P.S. Just a side note: did you know that over here they spell curb....kerb? As in, Please park parallel to the kerb. : )
