Sunday, September 15th

Well, it's another rainy drenched day with heavy winds expected, but it was made all better by the visit of good friends.  Jane & Bob drove over to Glastonbury to meet us for lunch on their way home from Dartmouth.  How wonderful to see them again and catch up on news.  We ate at a little Italian restaurant, Gigi's, with great food and wonderful service.

And such good company.  When you have good friends that are so far away with no chance of just running into them occasionally, you really look forward to it when you get the chance to see them again.  The last time I saw Jane was when Margaret & I had our cake decorating lesson--it seems so long ago, but Jane & Bob haven't changed a bit.  So much fun to hear about their children and THEIR children.  And Jane brought me gifts--tiny bottles of wine, which I so love, and a big bottle of apple cider with a wooden "60" hung around its neck.  AND an amazing piece of Sea Salt fudge from Lyme Regis, where they had just visited.  Loved all of it and munching on the fudge as I type.

I was so afraid they wouldn't be able to come with the way the weather people predicted today's storms, but they arrived before the rain, we had a long, leisurely lunch, and they were on their way just as the rain began.  Thank you again, Jane & Bob, for driving the extra miles to come see us.  Very much appreciated and we had a great time.

In for the day, I'm afraid, for the only things left on my list are outside activities except for the ones that are closed today.  Glad I made the effort to do most of my priority items yesterday since rain is in the forecast for the rest of our stay here.  I may just have to do the Abbey with my umbrella.

The Mitre Inn, which was built in 1680 – although local legend has it that a tavern has been sited here since the sixth century!
