Up early this morning for our 3 train rides. First to Lyon, then switch trains and go to
Geneva, then on to Lausanne. All along
the way we saw castles and forts and beautiful scenery, but it was going by so
fast that any pictures I tried to take were probably only of trees and
blur. And unfortunately, our train for
Geneva was 30 minutes late, so we missed our train to Lausanne but just took
the next one. Only about 15 minutes
arriving later than planned.
If the area looks safe and isn’t too far away, we hope to go
down to the cathedral at 10pm to hear Le Guet call the hour. We walked around a bit and saw Cafe du
Grutli! And Les Escaliers du
Marche! (steps up from the old town to
the cathedral). Oh wow—I could just see
the scenes from the book with Marc Rochat having dinner here and then climbing
the Escaliers (stairs) back up to the cathedral, which is beautiful. Just as we near the cathedral the bells from
another church began ringing SO loudly. Tomorrow,
we’ll visit the cathedral inside where I’ll try to find all the things talked
about in the book I read by Jon Steele. He would probably think I’m crazy for coming
all this way just to see the sites mentioned in the book.
